Pessaries for Prolapse
or Urinary Incontinence

If you’re struggling with pelvic organ prolapse (POP) or urinary incontinence (UI), a pessary might be your saving grace! Sometimes pelvic organs need more support that can be provided by a pessary. Pessaries are medical-grade silicone devices that help support the pelvic organs used to relieve symptoms of POP or stress urinary incontinence (SUI). Fitting pessaries can be performed by a Physiotherapist with pelvic health and pessary training, such as Sheree Palmer, PT.

Why consider a pessary?

  • Relief of vaginal/rectal heaviness by repositioning and preventing progression of POP

  • If POP prevents a sufficient pelvic floor muscle contraction

  • Relief from SUI with daily tasks or activities

  • Simulate organ repositioning to see if you’re a good candidate for surgery (no new leaking)

  • You’re unsure about surgery for POP or UI, you don’t want, or aren’t a candidate for surgery

Sheree uses an autoclave to sterilize the fitting pessaries which allows patients to try different types and sizes of pessaries prior to purchase. Sheree fits common types of pessaries including: ring with support, cube, dish with knob, donut, and Gelhorn pessaries.
